FAQ

  • What does a Solas Retreat entail?

Our retreat offers a sacred space to meet the Sacred Mushroom in nature. The program helps you prepare for two mushroom ceremonies and follow-up integration.

  • Who is the retreat for?

Our April retreat is for women seeking to learn more about psilocybin in a safe space. Exploring your why of wanting to meet the Sacred Mushroom is part of the screening process.

  • How can I benefit from a mushroom ceremony?

You will experience what is termed an “ego death” where you will experience a new dimension of intimacy with your own being. The psilocybin (active ingredient in the Sacred Mushroom) opens you to the deep interconnectedness of life, and the core beliefs you’ve known since birth are put on hold.

  • What happens once I ingest the Sacred Mushroom?

For 4-6 hours, you will explore the complexity of reality. Each person has a different experience, which is why the six-week preparation program before arriving is important to embrace the not-knowing, the paradox, the weird, and the grief. As guides, we will help you to remain open and curious when you meet the mushroom in all its beauty and explore a new realm of consciousness.

  • What are psychedelics?

Psychedelics have an unlimited potential for a wide variety of experiences that will depend on the interplay of the particular substance consumed (including the dose, the manner of administration, and the active alkaloids), the setting (the cultures you are embedded in, the direct environment, the ceremony, facilitators and others present) and the set (your body, stomach content, genes, expectations, beliefs, life experiences, and other personal factors).

  • What preparation and follow-up support is included in the cost of the retreat?

As guides and facilitators, we will meet with you individually to help prepare you for the experience as you will be asked to follow a six-week preparation program (clarifying intentions, developing diet, and spiritual practices). As a retreat group, we will meet once virtually to begin to get to know each other. We also offer microdosing (a gentle way to begin experiencing the benefits of psilocybin). During the retreat, you will have personal consultations and after the retreat, three months of integration of your experience.

  • What are the dietary restrictions during the retreat program?

While no restrictions are enforced, we will be serving plant-based meals and access to caffeine products is limited. We highly recommend a “clean diet” the month prior to arrival–reducing consumption of meat, processed foods, alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, cannabis, and other substances. The medical screening process will help us to know if you are taking any medicines contraindicative to psilocybin.

  • What dosages are ingested?

Each dosage is personalized based on the screening process. No more than 8 grams of dried mushroom will be administered.

  • Do I have to sign a waiver before arriving?

Yes, before starting the retreat program, we request that you sign a medical and liability waiver.

  • How many people are at the retreat center?

We offer a remote, safe space immersed in nature. The April retreat is limited to eight women participants and two women guides who are chefs and yoga instructors. We will invite a sound healer and a holotropic breathwork facilitator for a session.

  • What is integration?

Integration is the process of bringing separate elements together into a whole. During the retreat, you will experience numerous insights, feelings, thoughts, and perception changes. Expanded state experiences induced by plant medicine can often shift internal thought patterns and belief systems. Processing your journey and aligning your renewed internal reality to align with your external reality is like weaving the extraordinary into the ordinary.

During the retreat, time is given to setting intentions during your one-on-one sessions with the facilitators so that when you return home you’ll be able to nourish these intentions and help them root in your life. Some examples of intentions include reconnecting with a parts of yourself that somewhere along your life journey became disconnected. Or maybe you intuitively know a truth but have had your voice silenced. Since each of our psychedelic journeys are different, designing a personalized integration process for you is an essential aspect of Solas Retreats.
